Launched on January 22, 2004. It is nearly 2 1/2 years. Number of memeber in the orkut as of now are 24,521,229 (from my account).

The youth is very crazy about this internet social network service.
Orkut started with the moto of "We are committed to providing an online meeting place where people can socialize, make new acquintances and find others who share their interests"
